This obituary for my grand aunt Evisa Collins was published in the Arkansas Gazette newspaper on Wednesday, 10 January 1968. Evisa was the daughter of John Henry Graham and Mary Matilda Bohannon.

“Mrs. Evisa J. Collins…” Her middle name was Jane and her maiden name was Graham.

“…aged 77…” This is consistent with the dates on her grave marker, born Wednesday, 17 September 1890 and died on Sunday, 7 January 1968. To be really accurate, Evisa’s age was 77 years, 3 months and 21 days.

“…of Conway…” Evisa was residing in the city of Conway in Faulkner County, Arkansas at the time of her death.

“…widow of Posey A. Collins…” Posey and Evisa were married on Wednesday, 25 September 1912 in Searcy County, Arkansas. Posey died in 1966. At the time of his death they had been married 53 years.

“…a son, C. D. Collins…” Coy Dell Collins.

“…Mrs. Nellie Allen of Michigan…” Daughter Nellie Viona Collins, who married Russell Allen in 1940.

“…Mrs. Nola Sanderson of Conway…” Daughter Emma Nola Collins, who married Thomas Sanderson in 1959.

“…Jesse Graham…” Jesse Cornelius Graham.

“…Jasper and Dan Graham, both of Illinois…” John Jasper Graham and Daniel Page Graham.

“…Mrs. Stella Martin of Mount Judia…” Stella Viona Graham, who married James Franklin Martin in 1923. They lived in Mount Judea, misspelled in the obit.

“…Mrs. Earl Mainford of Oklahoma…” Emma Dorothy Graham, who married Earl Mainord in 1925.

“…three grandchildren and a great-grandchild…” I did turn up the identities of some of the grandchildren and the great-grandchild, but since they are still living I will refrain from revealing them here.

“Funeral was Tuesday…” 9 January 1968. Here is a copy of the funeral notice that appeared in the Arkansas Democrat newspaper on that date:
