This notice appeared in the Jacksonville Republican newspaper of Jacksonville, Calhoun County, Alabama on Saturday, 9 May 1868.

Administration Notice, 1868.

Judge H. D. Chandler granted letters of administration on the estate of Willis Lee Scott to John W. Wigginton on Monday, 9 March 1868.

Notice the error of Willis’ middle initial: J. instead of L.

Willis served as a First Lieutenant in the Civil War under Captain Wigginton in Company I, 48th Alabama Infantry. Wigginton was in 1868 a Justice of the Peace for Cleburne County.

I’ve added this notice to Broken Unions, Part Four, which goes into detail about Willis’ death and the probate of his estate.
